Scary places are a hit when it comes to sightseeing. The Haunted House Association in the US are making a profit of $500 million from haunted house ticket sales. The visitors are till today having a horrified but safe experience. The places specified here are not like the ones in an amusement park. They are really scary places on this planet. These places are honestly, inadvertently freaky, frightening and mysterious.
5. LA ISLA DE LAS MUNECAS:
TESHUILO LAKE, MEXICO.
Created by a single man - Don Julian Santana, is this 'ISLAND OF DOLLS'. He lived in this island in isolation for almost 50 years till he died in 2001. During his stay he collected a number of broken dolls and hung them on the trees in the island, which are hanging there even today.
It depicts some kind of sacrifice. Though looking cruel and disturbing, the story behind it is very simple and sweet. There are many different rendition of the story but the overall story is that Don Julian dedicated the dolls to the spirit of a little girl who had drowned in the canal.
6. BATTLESHIP ISLAND :
NAGASAKI, JAPAN.
As the island resembles a 'BATTLESHIP', the Hashima Island is also known as GUNKANJIMA. It is 60,000 sq m cluster of concrete remains in the sea by Nagasaki, Japan. It was a hasten home to thousands of coal mine workers. But when the coal mines seized to operate in 1950's this island was abandoned. It gives a sutle feeling that we have no place to run when stranded. The deserted buildings and the left-over belongings of the coal miners makes us feel like it is the most deserted place on earth. Though it was completely closed from 1950, visitors are being allowed from 2009.
7. GOJIAM PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL:
GYEONGGI, KOREA.
This is one of the 3 scariest places in Korea. The others being Youngdeok Haunted house, which is told to be still roamed by ghosts from the Korean War, and the Neulbom Garden, which was originally a restaurant where one can still hear dishes being washed.
The story of the hospital being abandoned itself is very freaky. Patients in this hospital started to die in a mysterious way, ten years ago. This forced the closure of the hospital. It has now become an abandoned building.
