BARBIE "QUEEN BEE OF DOLLS" - BATTLES FOR LIFE


BARBIE is no longer the most famous doll in the toy-stores. Introduced in the year 1956 as the first fashion doll, BARBIE has been under going a lot of altercation and oppositions. She has been unexpectedly put into a war for life. The sales have gone down by 12% in the last quarter, continuously for the last four quarters.


REASON:- 

     
     Some believe that the new dolls of the company -MATTEL, like the AMERICAN GIRL, MONSTER HIGH DOLLS, TEEN ANTI- BARBIE have become the reason for this decline.     But the opponents are no way near barbies blue          eyes, blond hair and beauty. And they don't seem     to live up to the standard as Barbie.
       

  

   CRITICISM ON BARBIE :- 


     The doll has been criticized for long as the one with "IMPOSSIBLE BEAUTY." Parents are trying to give their kids an alternative doll with more natural beauty. But kids are being attracted by the equally unrealistic dolls. 


NEW ALTERNATIVES:-   

    
      Monster high doll have brightly colored streak in their hair, they were mini skirts with skulls and a platformed heels. They are named DRACULA & ICK ABBEY BOMINABLE. They have punk rock look which gives a message that - being different is always fine.

CONCLUSION:

    
      Even now, Barbie is still no. 1 doll in the market. Its makers franchise is estimated to be $ 1.3 billion in annual sales. The alternative Monster High has become NO. 2 in 3 yrs. Earlier Barbie was sold to children between 3-9 yrs. Now it has gone down to 3-6 yrs of age. The reason being, elder children are moving on to electronic devices or the Monster dolls
