10 MASTERS OF CAMOUFLAGE

     The method of concealing personnel or equipment from an enemy by making them appear to be part of the natural surroundings is called CAMOUFLAGE.

     In nature, every advantage increases an animal's chances of survival, and thereby its chances of reproducing. This reason has made many animals to ex-cogitate a number of special transformations that help them find food and keep them from becoming food. One of the most common adaptations is the NATURAL CAMOUFLAGE, it is by which the animal hides itself from the predator and prey. Here we will see how animals amalgamate with their environment so that others might over look them. 
     

1.THE ARTIC FOX:

     The Arctic Fox's winter coat is white so it blends in with the snow, but for the summer season, its fur turns brown so it merges with the earth and rocks.






















2. TIGER:

     Stalking through long grass in search of a tasty meal, tigers go unnoticed as their irregular stripes blend with their surroundings.




3. GREY OWL:

     The great grey owl perches on a tree, safe in the knowledge that its mottled markings merge with the bark.
























4. STICK INSECT:

     Even at close range the stick insect is easily mistaken for a twig or leaf. In a really sticky situation, they will also pretend to snap off and drop to the ground.





5.DEVIL SCORPION FISH:

     The devil scorpion fish hides motionless in reefs looking like a rock or piece of dead coral. Its skin can even change color to blend in with its surroundings.




    

6. GECKO:

     Tree trunks in bright sunlight spell danger, but the leaf-tailed gecko's skin texture and color means he disappears into the bark background.





7. SEA-DRAGON:

     Clever camouflage provides extra protection for the leafy sea-dragon  The fish looks like seaweed and is ignored by predators. 





8. EUROPEAN NIGHT-JAR:

      If you live on the forest floor there's a high risk of meeting predators, so the European night jar's streaky-patterned feathers blend with the leaf litter.






9. BUSH CRICKETS & KATYDIDS:

     Also known as bush crickets, katydids are easily mistaken for leaves, and even have specks of mould, chewed corners, pretend blemishes, and fake veins.

















10. ORCHID MANTIS:

     The beautiful orchid mantis is disguised to resemble a flower. Pastel Pink with petal-like legs, it waits to catch insects, untroubled by predators.
