INTERCITY TRAIN DERAILED & CRASHES INTO THE PLATFORM OUTSIDE PARIS

     
     A passenger train carrying more than 385 passengers got derailed & clashed into the platform of Bretigny-sur-Orge station outside Paris. It is feared that at lest six were killed & many hundred were injured in the clash. The train was going to Limoges from Paris when it wrecked at about 5:15 pm on Friday at Bretigny-sur-Orge in Essone, just 20 km south of Paris.
        
     
     The train which was entering the station in high speed (75-87 mph), split into two parts for reasons unknown & a part of it rolled into the platform which was crowded being a holiday weekend and the busiest time of the day. A French Newspaper reported that 10 were critical & 60 were seriously injured. More people are caught in between the tangled coaches.The injured were treated in a field Hospital, but those who were seriously injured were sent to Paris for further treatment. 

     The French President Francois Hollande, arrived at the scene & examined the rescue operation. HE also expressed his "solidarity with the families." "There is panic. This is an apocalyptic spectacle," said Bretigny's Mayor, Bernard Decaux to LeParidien. "We are attempting to get more information, but we are dependent on the fire fighters." Guillaume Pepy, Head of the National Rail Operator SNCF said," six coaches had derailed - third and fourth came off the rails dragging off the four carriages behind them."


     An eye witness, Mr. Michael Lesainier, Owner of a cafe in the station said," The train approached very, very fast, knocking out everything in its path. It was rush hour, the platform was full." One of the passengers reported," The train bounced up & down like a bucking bronco. We were bouncing for some seconds before we came to a halt."

      There was a very turbulent out come after the impact. All the people were running around in shock & calling out to the family and friends. Vaney Kalisa said," I was trembling like a child....these were images of war."


   
     Another train crash was narrowly avoided after the first impact by the intelligent and quick thinking of the rail workers. Three inquiries have been opened into the reason of the accident. All trains from Paris's Gare d' Austerlitz station were suspended after the tragic accident
